Across the Sologne

Th Sologne is this forested area dotted with lakes (etangs) south of the big arc of the Loire from Blois to Gien. It was hard to find out if there was any accommodation or hills or le camping..as the tourist info lady, I dont think, had ever ventured in. Well first things first so I visited Chambord...the biggest Chateau on the Loire. It was built for Francois First as a hunting lodge ...must have expected big hunting parties. The central staircase is a double helix reputedly designed by Leanoardo Da Vinci. It looks very confusing but the design is quite modular..then of course it was never finished by Frank whos descendents added bit according to the plan. Theres moats for decorative purposes and you hire boats to circumnavigate. The best bit was the bike traCK TO GET THERE THROUGH THE EXTENSIVE FOREST. sO FAR NO DEER OR BOARS
